Shining the light on better health
Photobiomodulation (PBM) uses red or near‑infrared light to stimulate cells, boost mitochondrial activity, reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, and support tissue repair. It has been studied as an adjunct therapy for many health conditions.
Support recovery from tendon pain and muscle strain
Evidence: A meta‑analysis of 17 RCTs (n = 835) on tendinopathy found that PBM plus exercise produced significantly greater decreases in pain (MD 1.06; 95% CI 0.57–1.55) and improvements in function (MD 5.65; 95% CI 0.25–11.04) than exercise alone. PubMed+1
Support cognition, mood and brain health
Evidence: An umbrella review of 204 RCTs (>9,000 participants) found moderate‑certainty evidence of PBM benefits in cognitive function (eSMD 0.49 [95% CI 0.14‑0.84]) and fatigue in fibromyalgia (eSMD 1.25 [95% CI 0.63‑1.87]). BioMed Central
Light therapy for skin & tissue recovery
Evidence: A systematic review/meta‑analysis showed PBM aids gingival wound healing after surgery. BioMed Central
Another umbrella review listed wound/skin healing among conditions where PBM had significant effects. BioMed Central
Light‑based support for muscle recovery, performance and regeneration
Evidence: A review for athletes described how PBM may stimulate mitochondria, increase ATP production, reduce inflammation and improve regeneration. RS Global Journals
